Lorenzo Sonognini graduated in environmental sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and obtained his Executive MBA from SUPSI in Manno in 2015. He was active in environmental consulting from 1996 to 2011, first in a private firm – among his activities we mention the environmental accompaniment of the AlpTransit construction site in Biasca – then, since 2005, as co-owner of the consulting firm Gecos, dealing with cantonal planning issues both in the environmental field and for landscape and territorial development.
Since 2011 he has been director of the Monte Verità Foundation, which manages the Monte Verità Congress and Cultural Centre of the same name, linked to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich.
Since 1998 he has been an auditor for environmental and quality certification systems (ISO 9’001 and 14’001).
From 2009 to 2011 he was inspector for composting centres in Ticino.
In the field of voluntary work:
Since 2007 he has been vice president of the Verzasca Foundation – territorial development agency
Since 2011 he is president of the Ethnographic Museum of Val Verzasca.
A musician by passion, he has released three Progressive rock CDs with the group Zenit and one CD with Vos da Locarno.
